Bookkeeping Course in Toronto

Get the Skills to Become a Professional Bookkeeper!

Canadian bookkeepers are a well paid and integral part of business and industry

Introduction – A Career Opportunity that is in High Demand!
Bookkeepers are much needed and sought after by virtually every commercial segment in Canada. Today there are in excess of 100,000 professional bookkeepers in Canada. It is a well paid segment – in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area (“GTHA”) bookkeepers typically make average annual incomes from $35,000 to $45,000 and many attain the higher end levels of $60,000 to $70,000. Bookkeepers can work as employees, agents or as independent contractors. Bookkeeping is often a highly viable path to upward mobility to the lucrative accounting profession.

Human Resources Canada offers an excellent definition of the roles and responsibilities of bookkeepers: “bookkeepers maintain complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, providing professional bookkeeping services”. Bookkeepers represent the backbone of maintaining financial discipline in an enterprise and Certified Bookkeepers are on the front line of compiling financial data. Their academic background and practical experience ensure that their input meets the highest standards and a Code of Professional Conduct gives employers and / or clients no-worry confidence in the services provided by a Certified Bookkeeper. As an essential member of an organization, a Certified Bookkeeper is committed to the success of his or her employer and/or client. Certified Bookkeepers are recognized and rewarded for their value. A skilled profession is the best employment insurance.
The Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to preparing men and women for professional positions in a financial environment.

The bookkeeping profession today, unlike the accounting profession, is unregulated. There are no criteria for educational requirements or for professional conduct. The CIB is the national certification body for bookkeepers. Through the professional certification standards of the CIB, bookkeepers will now have the opportunity to complete a professional development program and become members of a recognized profession. As trained professionals, Certified Bookkeepers can look forward to greater financial and job security in a rapidly changing business world.
The CIB objectives include:

CIB - A national organization professionalizing bookkeeping
